Things to Do and See Outside of West Yellowstone

There’s lots of things to do and see in addition to those in Yellowstone National Park and all a short drive from Yellowstone Cabins and RV.

Wild West Yellowstone Rodeo

Want a taste of the wild wild west? Then be sure to catch the Wild West Yellowstone Rodeo. You’ll get to see real cowboys bull riding, calf roping, bareback riding and barrel racing! Kids can even get into the action and win a prize in the nightly calf chasing race.

Creekside Trail Rides & Diamond P Ranch

Have you always wanted to ride a horse and explore some beautiful scenery? Well then, be sure and book yourself a guided trail ride with one of our local horse outfitters. No experience necessary. You’ll get to experience the beautiful and peaceful creekside scenery, all from atop a horse.

Hebgen Lake, Quake Lake & Madison River

You’ll soon see that wherever you go here you’re bound to find water. So be sure to take a short drive and behold the magnificent Hebgen Lake just a few miles south of town. Go just a little farther, 27 miles out of town, and you’ll find Quake Lake, a lake that came to be in 1959 after a 7.5 earthquake caused a landslide that dammed up the Madison River, instantly covering dry land and forming the lake you see today. You can still see the tops of trees jutting from the lake’s surface, a haunting and eery sight.

While you’re there don’t miss learning the history and geological data surrounding this incredible act of nature at the Earthquake Lake Visitor Center.

Geyser Whitewater Expeditions

Situated near Yellowstone in the beautiful locale of Big Sky, Montana, is a thrilling whitewater rafting adventure on the Gallatin River, presented by Montana’s favorite rafting provider. With an impressive 32-year history, they offer both budget-friendly Gallatin river rafting packages and more comprehensive adventure packages, including horseback riding and zipline tours.

Whether a first-time rafter or a seasoned thrill-seeker, guests are invited to embrace an unforgettable experience and tick off a major bucket-list item. This whitewater rafting outfitter, the only locally-owned one in Big Sky, promises world-class adventure, exceptional service, and genuine hospitality.

In conclusion, we can’t possibly list them all, but rest assured the list of things to do and see around West Yellowstone is endless!
